MARC Roberts bagged a brace as Wakefield FC secured local bragging rights and heaped more relegation woe on Ossett Albion at College Grove.
Roberts opened the scoring as early as the first minutes as Ronnie Glavin's men came flying out of t
he traps on a rain-soaked pitch.
Albion upped their game and the impressive Shane Kelsey hit the post with a 35-yard thunderbolt which left Bears stopper Jan Zolna stranded.
At the other end Caldon Henson and Will Ryder saw efforts comfortably saved by Ben Saynor in the Albion goal and Chris Howarth lashed an effort into the side netting as chances came at a premium for both sides in an even first half.
It continued in the same vein in the second half with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances in front of goal.
Albion enjoyed more of the play but only had a Tom Parker effort which went harmlessly wide of goal to show for their efforts.
Kelsey saw his free-kick tipped over the bar by Zolna before Eric Gilchrist's men get on level terms from the resulting corner.
Lee Connor rose highest to power a header into the back of the net from a Kyle Cook corner kick on 71 minutes.
The visitors should have taken the momentum but instead it was Wakefield who rose their game to regain the lead just nine minutes later.
Good build-up play saw Danny South lay the ball off for Roberts to fire in his second with ten minutes to go.
Albion saw a goal chalked off on the stroke of full-time when the linesman adjudged Gareth Hamlet to have been off-side when he drilled a close-range effort in.
